After a long cold winter, it's time for our athletes to put their training to the test. Liv9 ambassadors Shelley Doucet and Nat Couture will be heading to the Boston Marathon on Easter weekend and both will be looking for some personal best times as both have been training hard this winter.
Despite there being 30,000 official entrants for the 2017 Boston Marathon, both Shelley and Nat are starting together near the front in Wave 1, Corral 2.
Shelley, who lives in Quispamsis, NB has been working hard this winter to be in tip top race condition. She's been working with a top Canadian running coach John Lofranco and has been using Liv9 Balance and Energy and custom recovery blends throughout the training cycle. Shelley ran a solid race in Toronto last fall missing the NB women's marathon record by 90 seconds and should be in contention for the record on this attempt.
For Nat Couture, Fredericton, NB, Boston is going to be a great fitness test before he shifts his training to focus on ultra distance races later in the summer. He too has been using Liv9 Balance and Energy and one particular custom recovery formula. He indicates that he's in the best shape he's ever been so he too is looking for a personal best in the marathon at Boston. His main goal this year is top 5 finish at the 100 mile Run Rabbit Run race in Colorado.
Here's a few photos of Nat, Shelley and fellow Liv9 athlete Ryan enduring a cold training run in Quispamsis back in March.
